On behalf of the writer of this article, the class of the OM4A would like to thank for those who have made the seminar possible and for the participants who have attended and supported the cause. May the class have paved the way and served as an instrument for the readers and the participants to be the change agent that our country needs for it to solve its cancers and dysfunctions. The class asks not for grades, but it asks for change, to change lives, for action. It asks for the preservation of the future generation. It asks for the preservation of man’s existence by preserving the only home that all every single creature in this living planet has.

The title speaks for itself that the people want “green politics” not the old politics. Meaning, as part of the society demands that the government should not only have the responsibility to make legislations that has the responsibility in the protection and preservation of the environment but also to empower and to educate the society to have awareness and provide a guiding hand in order to act and remove the harmful human acts that cause the destruction and degradation of the environment. This seminar aimed to enlighten the students of not only the awareness of the environmental problems but most of all, the simple ways, means and acts on how to protect the environment alongside with the government.

The seminar was held on the 19th of July, 2010 where the event was blessed by the presence of two speakers, Mr. Harry Quiaoit of DENR (Department of Environmental and Natural Resources) and also of the presence of Mr. Johnny Dela Cruz of the City Government of Manila. The former (Mr. Harry) talked about the role of the DENR towards the implementation of Sustainable Development throughout the country. It has been said that the Philippines aims to be one of the industrialized country as time progresses and through the campaign of the DENR, it is possible that the country can vigorously commit in its economic activities while simultaneously protecting and preserving the environment. Moreover, the speaker has further emphasized its role in empowering the masses through knowledge and information in order to educate the society in general so as to have an integrated approach between the government, the people and lastly the business sector.

The second speaker from the City Government of Manila, Mr. Johnny Dela Cruz, talked about the role of the LGU’s in the implementation of the DENR’s sustainable development in Manila. Through this implementation, the City Government’s Objective is to integrate and to educate not only the small business establishments but most importantly to integrate the efforts of the small communities so as to protect the environment not only from the macro-scale but also to use the micro-approach in protecting the environment through the use of simple means and ways that are easy, convenient, effective and efficient in the part of the communities, families and lastly to the individuals.

The seminar was a success although there were a number of flaws before and during the seminar which the class has considered in learning the hard way, it has produced good remarks from the students of FM4A, FM4B,MK4A and OM4B regarding the event, along with the remarks of the faculty and of the area head of the Operations Management, Mr. Jonathan De Leon. Through this experience that the OM4A had, it has proven that nothing is impossible with team work, cooperation and integration among those who made the seminar possible thus any task however insurmountable it would be, will be easy as long as everyone carries one’s cross and one carries not only his burden but to lessen the load of others.
